Be Part of Turning Empty Houses into Homes
We’re always looking for people to support the work of West Coast Furniture Bank. Whether you can give your time, skills, or resources, every contribution helps us collect, prepare, and deliver essential furniture to those who need it most.
Moving & Delivering Furniture
A large part of what we do is hands-on. This includes collecting donated furniture, storing it in our unit, and delivering it to households.
If you’re reasonably fit and happy to get involved with physical work, we can always use extra help with lifting, moving, and logistics.
Access to a van or trailer is a huge bonus. While we currently rely on support from partners, our long-term goal is to build our own transport capability and expand our delivery team.
Sorting & Soft Furnishings
We also receive items such as curtains, towels, and bedding. These need to be sorted, checked, and sometimes cleaned before being passed on.
While this is a smaller part of our work, it’s still important - and extra help here allows us to make more items available to those in need.
Repairs & Practical Skills
Occasionally, donated items need minor repairs or strengthening before they are suitable for use.
If you’re practical or “handy”, your skills can help ensure that everything we provide is safe, functional, and ready to be used in someone’s home.
Admin & Organisation
Behind the scenes, we need support with organising and tracking the items we collect and distribute.
If you have basic IT skills, you could help catalogue furniture, take photographs, and assist with matching items to the needs of referred households. As we grow, we aim to move more of this work into simple digital systems.
How to Join
West Coast Furniture Bank is a registered charity (SCIO: SC049372), supported largely by volunteers. While we have a formal structure, much of our day-to-day work is flexible and community-driven.
If you’d like to get involved, simply send us an email and a member of our team will be in touch.
Make a Real Difference
Every role - from lifting furniture to organising stock - plays a part in helping someone create a home. By joining us, you become part of a practical, hands-on effort that makes a genuine difference in people’s lives.
